Beyond the Pale is a dreamy buzz-rock band with a female singer. Sharing company with
names like "Medicine", "K's Choice", "The Pixies", and "New Order", Beyond the Pale's sound is a new twist
inspired by some of alternative music's most unique bands. Since forming in
Jacksonville, FL in 1998, Beyond the Pale has recorded two EP’s and two full length records
in four different studios. In all, the band has written and recorded over fifty original songs
with select songs from each albumn receiving consistent airplay on Jacksonville’s 93.3 FM specialty shows.
The station’s local band authority, "Flounder", describes the band as "sub-angelic vocals
floating over fields of distorted guitars."
Playing to hundreds of people both headlining for local acts and opening for national ones, the
band has drawn crowds of new listeners from the start. Performing consistently
every month or two, the band has created a loyal fan base local club owners have grown to appreciate. The band's
consistent draw is the reason club owners ask the band back time and again.
In addition to club performances, Beyond the Pale has had an in-studio interview and accoustic
performance on 93.3 FM's program "Pandora's Box."
The band has also received a very positive CD review in the "Folio," a local newspaper highlighting
the area's entertainment scene. In addition, Beyond the Pale has participated in a benefit
called “Take Back the Night” for the last two years. This benefit is an annual event to raise awareness
about domestic violence and takes place at "The Landing," one of the area's most important venues.
Embracing the Internet and its potential, the band has created its own website (www.beyondthepale.cc) featuring
MP3s, news, pictures, bio, and a list of upcoming shows. Listeners can also purchase the band's newest release online
through www.CDBaby.com.
Currently, Beyond the Pale is promoting and supporting their newest album (Long Lost Friend)
released in January 2002 and beginning to write and record new songs for future releases.
